I was on my last street of the day. My legs were weary but my spirit still strong. This was a quiet back street in Isabella Plains on what had been a superb day of door knocking.
DL flyers at the ready. This was a big house. Long front verandah. Big windows. Nice place.
Knock knock knock !!
The door opened.
“G’day Mark Parton. I’m your local Liberal candidate…”
“There’s no point talking to me. I’m a Labor voter !”
“Well sir, after 150 doors today, I was bound to eventually find one of you.”
“Don’t you worry, you’ll find lots of us around here.”
“I’m sorry to say sir, with all respect, there’s not many of you left. Sorry to bother you. Have a good day.”
