I have no right to comment about State of Origin.  When it comes to rugby league, I’m an imposter.

I grew up in a place where rugby league didn’t exist.

In country Western Australia in the 1970’s and 80’s there was no such game as league. For that matter, Rugby Union was also a completely foreign game.

I met the game for the first time in my late twenties when I moved to Coffs Harbour. I’ve grown quite fond of it since then.

Having never lived in Qld, my State Of Origin allegience is with the Blues.state of o

So…we’ve established that I have rugby league cred whatsoever.

I’m worried about State of Origin this year.  I think it’s going to be a shocker.

So much has been made of the Dad’s Army tag for the maroons, but the reality is, their squad looks much stronger than ours.

I understand that Cronk, Smith and Thurston did give us much in that test against the Kiwis….but this is State Of Origin. These Qld boys are hardened professional State of Origin players and they will shine.

Couldn’t we have flown the Hayne-train back for a week ? I think we may need him.

Blake Austin should have been given a berth. His time will come.

In the meantime, I guess the positive for the Raiders is a couple of weeks where we get to play depleted and battle weary teams for points in the NRL.  We’ll take whichever points we can get.
