There’s nothing like going to the races as an owner. You can join us in racing two exciting young thoroughbreds here in the ACT.

Last year I was instrumental in putting together a syndicate of 20 to race a couple of horses in the care of Peter Wiggins here in Canberra.

We’ve had a lot of fun.

Agrionius and Cynthius are both learning, but they’ve already given us some thrills. Agrionius is a dour middle distance horse who’s set to come into his own in this his third preparation. “Max” finished a close third behind Off Broadway and Keikosan at Thoroughbred Park at his last preparation before a series of efforts which saw him just behind the placegetters. image

He’s ready to go now, in fact he’s the 4th emergency in a $40,000 Maiden at Canterbury on Wednesday.  Max was unplaced at his first run back from a spell a few weeks ago on a heavy track. He really did need the run.

Agrionius is not a world beater, but we’re expecting him to break his maiden status this preparation and to give us a lot of fun in doing so.

He’s a 3 year old gelding by Henny Hughes out of Chrisophelia. Max is a nervous type, but he’s settling down with maturity.

I think it’s fair to say we have higher hopes for Cynthius. This beautiful chestnut filly is blessed with genuine speed.  She’s impressed many at Thoroughbred Park in early morning track work, but at this stage is yet to show her true potential at the races. “Poppy” had a couple of runs at her last preparation at Wagga. She ticked plenty of boxes for us but was unplaced in both.  “Wiggo” turned her out into the paddock for an extended break to do some growing, and she’s done just that.

Cynthius is a adorable. You could almost describe her as kid friendly. Unlike Max, she’s keen to get to know people and interact with them. She has a beautiful white blaze and heaps of personality. Cythius is a 2 year old filly by Excellent Art.

Poppy is set to return to the track in the Spring and I can’t wait.image

We have just one vacancy in this syndicate, but it won’t last long.

It costs just $50 per week to be in both horses.

These horses are both leased from the breeder so there’s not purchase price involved.  All of the hard work has been done, in that you don’t have to pay for breaking in and the initial preparations. These are both ready made racehorses.

What are you waiting for ?
