Well Canberra, if that was a dress rehearsal for a Test match here, I think we’ll take it.
How good was the cricket ?
The weather, the crowd, the vibe….and the result.
Ok it was a bit of a flat track, but obviously not too much of one, or they would have got the runs.
I was really pleased when Steve Smith elected to bat because I wanted to see Finch and Warner making hay while the sun was shining. And make hay they did.
Glenn Maxwell is my short form poster boy at the moment and he didn’t let me down. It was swashbuckling cameo from Maxi which lifted the Australian total to a smidge.
The Indians are masters at the 50 0ver game. They knew exactly what needed to be done and they came out in the evening session to do it. It was magical to watch Kohli and Dhawan go about their business and for much of the night an emphatic Indian victory looked likely.
It was so cool to finish up such a landmark day for Canberra with a stunning Australian victory.
Bring on the test match.
