You know summer is close when our 5 day forecast has a 35 degree maximum on it.

Sean Carson from the local weather bureau told me on the radio earlier in the morning that we have a 35 degree max forecast for Friday, but that 39 wouldn’t surprise him.   Canberra did crack it for 33 yesterday.

Are you fired up for the summer of cricket ?image

I am.  Great to see a win for the Australians last night.  Cameron White you are a champion….now and then. Cammo doesn’t always fire, but he does when we need him to and it was required last night.  After getting smashed in the silly little ‘test series’ in Dubai, we have bounced back  against the Proteas.  Patty Cummins is back.  Watto’s emerged from an injury layoff with some form under the belt and it’s all looking good from where I sit.

Cameron White has guided Australia to an edge of the seat two-wicket win over the Proteas with a ball to spare in Sydney, sealing the Twenty20 series 2-1.

White hit 41 from 31 deliveries. He led the mid innings recovery and then hung on in as others crumbled around him to get over the line.

Nobody cares about these series…unless we win them.

We do have a massive summer of cricket coming up in Canberra. It all starts next week.

We get a fully fledged one day international involving Australia next week. Australia v South Africa.  Surely this will be a sel out under lights.  Gates open from 1pm with the game on from 2.20pm. Bring it on.

You cannot beat a Prime Ministers XI v England game…and that’s just what we’ve got on January 14th. image

And the World Cricket Cup in Canberra will be massive. They may be considered minnows, but the game between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be on the biggies.  It’s set down for Wednesday Feb 18th. A week later we have the West Indies v Zimbabwe and then in the following week, Ireland v South Africa.

Canberra, if ever you want a test match in our town, you must buy tickets and go along to these games. Let’s fill Manuka Oval.
